Editorial Conversation
A starting point for storytellers seeking perspective before deciding what comes next
Many storytellers simply want to know how their work feels to a careful reader.
Being unsure of what kind of help you actually need can be the hardest part of seeking editorial support.
Maybe you may have some pages, a draft, or even a nearly finished manuscript, but find yourself uncertain about where the work stands, what deserves attention next, or whether editing is the right step yet.
An Editorial Conversation offers a space to think through those questions together.
It’s not an evaluation or a sales call.
It’s a focused, reader-centered conversation about your work and where it might go from here.
What to expect:
Before meeting, you’ll share and I’ll review up to 10 pages of your manuscript (optional but encouraged).
During our session, we’ll talk about:
what feels central or emerging in the work
how a reader might experience what’s written
patterns or tensions which close proximity and over-familiarity make difficult to see
where you might focus your attention next
This goal is not correct, but clarity.
You won’t receive line edits or rewritten passages. Instead, you’ll leave with a clearer sense of how your manuscript is functioning and what next steps might support it.
Who this is for:
Storytellers who:
aren’t sure which kind of editorial support, if any, they need
feel stuck between drafting and revising
want thoughtful outside perspective without committing to a full service
are preparing a manuscript to share with readers, agents, or publishers
are looking into human alternatives to AI solutions
A finished draft is not necessary.
Just bring a curiosity about your work.
What storytellers frequently gain:
After an Editorial Conversation, storytellers commonly leave with:
a clearer understanding of their project’s direction
reassurance about what is already working
specific areas to focus on next
a sense of whether coaching, developmental editing, or polishing would be helpful — now or later
Sometimes the outcome is a recommendation to continue writing independently for a while longer. That, too, is useful clarity.
